How To Ride
Visit the YRT/Viva Riding With Us section of the YRT/Viva website to learn more about using YRT/Viva.
Animals
Dogs on leashes and small non-exotic pets that are without danger or offence to other passengers as determined by the bus operator are permitted on YRT/Viva buses except:
- during peak periods, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m Monday to Friday inclusive,
- during any emergency, or
- at any other time that vehicles are heavily loaded.
Bus operators have the right to reject the boarding of any animal which they feel poses a threat to other passengers.
Bicycles
Bicycle racks are located on the front of buses and can carry two bicycles. Bicycles can be transported in the bus when the racks are full or inoperable at the transit operator's discretion, when there is space in the bus and as long as other customers are not inconvenienced. Bicycles must not block the aisles.
Luggage and Strollers
No person shall bring bicycles, skis, sledges toboggans and other large objects likely to inconvenience or jeopardize the safety of other passengers onto any YRT/Viva buses during the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday inclusive, during an emergency, or at any other time that vehicles are heavily loaded.
Passengers are required to remove children from the strollers during crowded conditions, and the stroller must be folded if it will interfere with standing passengers or the safe movement of passengers within the bus. If a passenger declines to remove the child from the stroller or if the stroller cannot be folded, the operator shall have the right to advise the customer that they will have to wait for the next bus that has room to accommodate the stroller.
